My name is Margie Rose Walker, and this is my site. While I hope the name says it all – visuals and words – extra communication is sometimes needed. So, I’ll start with a bit of history.
The name Images & Expressions was the title of a radio show I created many years ago as program director of KTSU (Texas Southern University, Houston). The 1 ½ to 2 hour show featured famous speeches and speakers – Malcolm X, President John F. Kennedy, Minister Louis Farrakhan, and Dr. Yosef ben Jochannan, to name a few, which aired Fridays, 7pm. These speakers were chosen because of their gift with words . . . words that taught, scolded, cajoled and encouraged, words of inclusion, phrases that conjured a sense, a time, a feel of place that left no questions unanswered and most importantly of all, words and phrases that evoked strong emotions.
Before Images & Expressions became a thought for my site, I wrote romance and romantic suspense novels, with a quick and brief sojourn into mystery. It’s my passion, you know. Writing them, I mean. I intend to share some of my titles and stories, after I get new covers. Look for more about that project later under the heading Chapter One under the STORIES section.
I still write . . . bigger tales that dabble in matters of the heart, which are not all sweet and pink, like romances. Got several that I intend to share. New works will fall under the heading Act I section of STORIES, where the first page of the story will appear. A mystery entitled A SLICE OF REPARATIONS is the lead story. I’ll even throw in an essay or two under Musings of Margie. The first one entitled, “Don’t Mess Up the Roux” is written to accompany an art exhibit, “The Roux” that features the works of very talented Houston female artists.
I hope all the visuals I produce and words I write satisfy my desire to present pleasing Images & Expressions to you.
Meanwhile, I start the site with my new hobby, taking photographs of things that interest me. Photography has changed significantly since I took a class in college. Today’s cameras make taking pictures easy, but photography is still a challenging profession. These photographs that I share with you are those that achieved the “aw factor” for me.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you return to see how much farther this site can go.
Hear it. Read it. See it. Feel it.
